Ballett-Festival 2022 at the Munich National Theatre
With the triple bills "Passagen" consisting of
Affairs of the heart (choreography : David Dawson, music : Marjan Mozetich)
Pictures of an Exhibition (choreography : Alexej Ratmanski, music : Modest Mussorgski) and
Sweet Bones' Melody ( choreography : Marco Goecke, music Unsuk Chin)
started the ballet week 2022 in a sold-out house. What an experience it was !
Two days later we were delighted to experience instead of "snow storm" the triple bill "Paradigma", consisting of the
BROKEN FALL (Choreography: Russell Maliphant, Music: Barry Adams)
BEDROOM FOLK (choreography: Sharon Eyal, Gai Behar, music: Ori Lichtik) that reminded of Fritz Lang's Metropolis and
WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN (choreography: Liam Scarlett, music: Sergei W. Rachmaninoff)
(Which premiered without audience in December 2020) . I saw it for the second time after I attenden the opening night with audience, my companion then for the first time, and we both loved it.
Opinions may be divided about recent decisions of the city of Munich in terms of recruitment, and about the political statements shown by the directors; yet the results this time were simply enchanting.
Two tumbs up : Do not miss to see either of these two triple bills !
